This image was taken at a moment when the Moon surprised us in Uyuni, Bolivia. After a few days of cold inclement nights and very hard conditions for creation, we saw the glow of the Moon slowly appear behind the thick clouds as we were shooting. We were so excited to see this literal and figurative opening in the sky! We got lucky, and for the following days, the weather got calmer and allowed us to create with the magnificent reflection of the Salar, one of the reasons why we traveled all the way there.

About the Night Reflection Seven series
This series is the result of a creative process that has been evolving over the past 8 years. Crafting light by hand to create imagery that magnifies reality in a single exposure is at the core of our projects. These outdoor tube light-painting creations testify to the importance of two things that inspire my photography journey: a love for light-painting as an artistic expression and a love for landscapes that evoke the vastness, mystery, and beauty of nature. Each image is the result of a long exposure during which Kim, a contemporary dancer, and my creative partner, stays still while I move the light behind her. Combining in a singular way light-painting and landscape photography, the process looks like a performance of dancing light and human stillness in the silence of the night.
Moonglass is a chapter dedicated to our only natural satellite and its reflection accompanying our nights. Embodying the cycle and representing the rhythm of time, we’ve been sharing its bright spectacle with so many that came before us. Everyone can probably recall a time when they witnessed the night being illuminated by its presence. An awe-provoking moment for many of us. Fascinated by this master of tidal force lighting up our scenery, we try to include it with our light-painting as it slightly changes every day, following its own trajectory around us. Capturing the Moon in the frame was initially done to avoid other constraints, but it quickly became a natural light we want to add to our creations whenever we can. When we do, it feels like time slows down. As the conditions remain stable for a while and our visibility increases, we can take our time, be more efficient and fully enjoy the process.
Acting as a purpose to travel, our projects keep us learning and moving forward. Since 2015, our journey through outdoor tube light-painting has been giving us the opportunity to push our own limits and stay outdoors for long hours through the cold, the wind, the mosquitoes and other unpredictable challenges to experience, create and capture unique moments of magic after sunset, seeking to inspire others to go explore and play with lights.
