Night Reflection 3.3

About this picture

Nobody can look at the sky and not feel a sense of immensity & smallness at once. Infinity and perspective. Eternal and ephemeral. Holding all of it at once in a single moment of contemplation.

About the Night Reflection Three series

This chapter is especially dear to us as for a long time we simply thought it would be impossible to capture the milky way with our light-painting technique within a single image. As we kept trying and learning, we finally got to a point where we refined our mastery enough to achieve these images. Now an integral part of our art, capturing the night sky and especially our galaxy in our light-painting creations is a good reason to stay out very late at night, looking at something that we are part of, enjoying nature’s spectacle during the Milky Way season. These moments are indeed very humbling and inspiring experiences that we aim to immortalize with our pieces.

Just as every trace of light made by hand is unique and impossible to replicate, so is every night sky we capture. As we shape traces of light and partially reveal the beauty of our environment, we try to create a slightly altered perspective of reality where reflection is implied.

Location scouting earlier that day :)

I don’t think we should trust the colors from a cellphone picture, but hey, hi!

We can hardly demonstrate the process that goes into producing these images as it is so dark when we're aiming to capture the light-painting and the milkyway in a single exposure. But here's the image straight out of the camera (and the wind speed device hooked on the right side lol)
